No sooner you switch the TV on the begging starts. They've seem to be running out of wildlife options to beg for, we now have, give £3 a month to bring a cat in from the cold. Next it will be £3 for a Budgie OR, £3  a month to bring a Tory in from the cold. :0)

No charity gets free TV advertising, they might get reduced rates for advertising slots off peak but that is the same for other advertisers. The amount of truly depressing daytime adverts is appalling, relentless.  If they aren't begging, they are flogging funeral plans, life insurance, care services or mobility aids.

It's the life boat mob that annoy me. I'll contribute when they stop ferrying illegals in bulk.

Is there a special advertising rate for charities or are they already minted and merely on a vanity trip?

I think they get a certain amount of air time free doug.

£3? How about the crisis at Christmas advert, send £29:73 now.

Regardless of a reduced rate they are still spending a small fortune, especially water aid. Would love to know if any other country is bombarded with such begging on this scale.

A crippled donkey on the other side of the world needs shooting not feeding some vets bank account.

I don't watch television adverts but the postman is delivering the usual pleas we get from various sources every year at Christmas time.

TTT, see where your're coming from but our lifeboats are manned by trained volunteers.  Their job is to save lives and not judge who is in need of help.

£3 !!!! you were lucky - most are asking for 20 quid plus now.

Like mountain rescue outfits - for many it's not a chore, it's their chosen pastime. They actually enjoy it.

11:06 yes but they go out looking for them to "rescue".

The RNLI bank account must have taken a battering over the last few years, this government and the previous have paid out millions to private hotels, and sadley still doing so. So pay some to the RNLI, their requirments money wise are of a fraction of hotel bills. At least the tax payer would still have some security and help if needed from the RNLI unlike hotel bills which there is no addvantage whatsoever.

Me too, they seem to be advertising a lot lately, I wonder if the funds are drying up

Most pensioners will be sitting indoors in the cold this year, thanks to the Labour Party.

11:30 I sometimes wonder if you are really that dim or just pretending.

Why £29.73, why not 30 quid? Seems a strange amount.

The RNLI does not want to be state funded, it is adamant about that because it wants to keep its independence free from government control

14.48 I dont have to wonder for a second about you.

Let's stick to the OP please.

I assume they advertise for the same reason businesses advertise, that is because it's worthwhile financially- they generate more in donations than the cost of the ads.
