parking ticket rules

today i recieved a parking ticket, the attendant stood in front of my car to stop me moving so he could place the ticket on my screen, in his hurried writing he didn't fill in the code box on the ticket. is it valid?

without putting a violation code in the box, you have good grounds to launch an appeal and you should get the fine waived. They have to prove what they were fining you for. Without the code, they can proive anything. Unless it was a London Transport person, because they usually take photographic evidence. the *******!

what were you contravening? Disabled bay? Unloading bay?

If he hasn't marked down the contravention (presume thats the box your referring to) then the ticket is invalid.

But you'll probably need to write in to get it cancelled.

Theres nothing rules wise stopping him doing what he did (standing in front of your car) though given some of the drivers out there its probably not the safest of things for a traffic warden to do.

It is illegal for any person except for a police officer in full uniform to obstruct "the Queens highway" or to stop a moving vehicle.

Having said that a traffic warden does not have to actualy put the ticket on your car, it can be sent by post.

But even with either of those two points if the ticket is not filled in correctly it is invalid.

unfortunately i was in a pay and display without a ticket for 3 minutes, but he did not complete the ticket, it is the contravention code that is missing.

write a letter, pointing out the wardens mistake and advise then that this makes the ticket null avaoid. Ask them for a letter waiving the fine.
