Can anyone recommend a good car insurer, that includes breakdown recovery too. At a reasonable price? Thanks.

Hi Dreaming, Prudential do insurance and breakdown cover. But guess it depends on what type of car you have, as it can vary.

Confused.com is great for finding cheapest as you can see why some companies have failed to quote or are quoting high prices.

Try the AA. Very very competitive at the moment.

this one will take some beating but you must be 50+ saga customer service 0845 366 1601 and tell them what YOU want.

when i go for a quote to other companys and tell them we are with saga they say we cannot compete with them. good luck

I get a very good deal on my insurance (about �140p.a.) from Kwik Fit:

They also do breakdown cover (see the website) but I don't use it because I've been with Autonational Rescue for years. They charge me �63p.a. for the full package of roadside assistance, home recovery, overnight accommodation, etc. I've called them out on several occasions over the years and alway received prompt attention and efficient service. I've never had any luck with confused.com. Try www.tesco.co.uk.

They do optional breakdown cover. I've never had a cheaper quote from anyone else when I renew my insurance.

i'd say tescos as well they are 3 grand cheaper than some quotes i was getting plus 4 a bit extra u get breakdown cover with no limit on how many callouts a year

I just tried Sheilas Wheels (They of the screaming advert) and Diamond, cos i am female, but they were very expensive, so i used my house hold insurance firm RIAS and they got me a quote 200 cheaper than Sheilas and 300 cheaper than Diamond. And with a curtosy car but no breakdown, i am in the AA. (That's the Automobile Association before anyone mutters under their breath! ) LOL

If you use confused.com use a spam email address - I didn't get a single useful quote of them but I did get an extraordinary amount of spam shortly after using that site

The best quote I found for the last couple of years has been from Direct Line & it includes breakdown cover with the excellent Green-Flag (I think they own them so whether you get a better deal like that I'm not sure).

But if you want to save money its wise to be prepared to invest a bit of time searching for quotes each year - my wife has just got a quote from the National Farmers Union of all people which beats Direct Line hands down (not sure if they have an option for breakdown cover as she's already covered by mine)

from personal experience I would stay away from Direct Line. Myself and other people I know have had bad experiences with them, especially when it comes to vehcile repairs.

Best insurers I have used is Admiral, and now more recently as I am using my other halfs focus is Churchill. Both of which give you breakdown cover. Churchills used to offer 1yrs free breakdown, n ot sure if they still are.

Thank you all for your replies. I am afraid I left it last min! (suddenly realised insurance ran out today!) so only just read your very helpful replies. So sorted out my car insurance with More than.. which I found via confused.com. And seemed pretty good value. Will look at breakdown cover separately thanks dennis for the link. Thanks again for all your help.
