Selling a car online
A friend of mine recently told me about a website called www.wewillbuyyourcar.com where they will offer you a price for your car immediately online and if it is acceptable to you, agree to buy it off you. Apparently the money is wired directly to your bank from HSBC and someone comes round to collect the car. It sounds a lot more convenient than private sales or trade-in, but has any ABer any experience of using them?

They couldn't understand me when I told them it was a total waste of time in my case as I already had the other car and wanted to make money instead of loose more money.

This doesn't seem to be the case here. They are solely interested in buying the car - hence the name www.wewillbuyyourcar.com I guess. From looking at the website, the price is less than you would get from a private sale, but there isn't the hassle of getting it valeted, the cost of advertising it and then dealing with the timewasters who either don't turn up, don't actually have the money or try and haggle with you. At least you are guaranteed a sale at guaranteed price. As I said, looks good in principle. I'm tempted, but I would like a recommendation from someone who has actually used it.
Looking at the terms and conditions they will quite happily drive your car away after collecting all keys and such material like log book documents and stuff, charge you a collection fee and then send the payment to your bank.
Personally I wouldn't part with my car until I have the payment in my bank way before the sale.
I've had family members loose cars to people like this before.

Having read the previously posted comments I contacted wewillbuyyourcar.com to sell my car.
I am emigrating at the end of May and I've plenty of other stuff to sort our as well as the car - an X Series Jag.
I got a decent price - above what dealers were offering - and once I had the offer from them they arranged to collect the car and wire the money to my account.
No payment by me was involved, they were courteous when they pick up the car, and I'm now off to sunny Italy without having to worry about the car!!
I'd certainly recommend them, despite my initial cynicism.
