Highway code
6 Answers
I understand that the hightway code is not enforcable by law - so why do we have one??
We have big issues in our neighbourhood with cars/vans parking too close to road junctions (many with their bonnets actually sticking out into the next road) This makes pulling out of junctions virtually impossible (due to restricted vision) without running the risk of another vehicle driving into the side of you.
Anyone have any ideas (sensible ones preferably - tyre slashing is not an option!) about how to deal with this problem before someone has a serious accident or is killed?
Thanks

You may be fined, given penalty points on your licence or be disqualified from driving. In the most serious cases you may be sent to prison. Such rules are identified by the use of the words MUST / MUST NOT. In addition the rule includes an abbreviated reference to the legislation which creates the offence.
Although failure to comply with the other rules of the Code will not, it itself, cause a person to be prosecuted, The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under Traffic Acts to establish liability."

We have a parking problem in our road and most mornings a traffic warden/ parking attendent will come along and ticket any car that it parked too close to the junction. People that park like this are selfish *****, it is so hard to get out of our turning that most residents drive around the block to avoid it. So tell the council I'm sure they would love to jump on a money spinning venture.
