nissan terrano over revving in fourth gear

my beloved terrano has on occassion started to over rev when i put it into fourth gear.i am not sure if it has been cheap superstore fuel that has upset it as when i put shell in she goes like a bomb again.when i take my foot off accelerator and apply it again the damn thing goes well.anybody shed some light? don't want to spend a fortune at garage and it not my driving i drive three different vehicles a day and my beast is the only one that is being a devil

well i would have thought that.the accelerator pedal is very stiff the littest touch and it over revs but only in fourth.weird.
