i have a tomtom 700 but i am unable to us it in my car because i have no socket to plug my lead into.i am a none smoker and i have not got a lighter point in my car.i know that you can use it with the battery that comes with it.but it only lasts up to four hours.can anyone give me any advice on how to get around this.i would be most grateful.

Take the car to your local garage and get them to fit a 12V socket for you.It's not that difficult so shouldn't take them long.What's the car and how old is it? I'm surprised it hasn't got a power socket somewhere

hi.steffomini many thanks for your reply.my car is a seat ibiza 3 door hatchback 1.9 diesel year 1996.this is the only car that i have owned thats without a lighter socket i was hoping that i could do the job myself only you know how much the garages charge. thankyou
Halfords or motor factors sell the lighter socket.One wire goes to a live feed (CD player?Tape deck etc) the other wire to a suitable Earth,job done ;-)
