1997 Fiesta Auto Driver's door lock

Sorry to post same question again, but does anyone have any suggestions what to do with a door lock that won't unlock from the outside at all?? Passenger has to open it for me AND IT'S SO ANNOYING!!
Any suggestions very much appreciated!

i have the same problem with a 1995 ford escort i`am looking on ebay for a new part not to expensive you should try there for new lock

Cheapest option - take the lock off and remove the barrel - either file the locking pins or throw them away. Then your key will work but the downside is that any key will open the door. Other than this, as steveog says, fit a new lock.

Try a squirt of WD40 through the key hole. It's a long shot but worked for me once. A lot cheaper than buying new bits.

if its what i think it is you will find a tiny spring broken in the lock mechanism. you cant buy the spring separate, but i have managed to find an alternate spring to do the job usually from the breakers yard. only downside you have to remove mechanism from door to do the job.

tumblers inside the barrell wears. cost about 30 quid from ford for a new lock and key . 30 quid to get it fitted.
