I have an MG TF and it only 2 years old but hasnt been driven for about 4 weeks - i went to unlock it with the remote but it wont unlock - I tired the key and that wont work either - any idea how to get into my car????
No idea but if i were you i would be looking to get rid, somebody who i work with has one on a 04 reg, been fine for 18 months then went into the garage for something minor and has been back 23 times in just over 4 months and had 7500 spent on it.
yeh it is 0- but never had any trouble with it for 2 years - suddenly now the door wont happen - what culd be wrong? - actually getting rid of it in 2 weeks so dont want to spend alot repairing it!
Sounds like the battery may have gone completely flat or dead so check that first . My MGF was prone to 'forgeting' its key code after a flat battery. does your car have an immobiliser light on the dash? If so try this, put the key in the ignition and turn on till the ignition light comes on, now press and hold the unlock button on your fob for several seconds until the dash imobiliser light flashes rapidly. you should then be able to lock and unlock as usual.
This assumes that the TF is the same but its worth a try.
let me know if it works.
Hey ugly_bob, the 1.8 K series is a fine engine capable of producing tons of power, we have one in a Mk3 Escort rally car giving 197bhp, its a screamer! They are very prone to early gasket failure due in part to the crap design of gasket and in part to the design of the coolant system which allows the engine to heat up from cold too rapidly.
