Why are they calling this the first London motor show since the 70's- i remember going to Earls Court in 1995.

Yeah - I heard that on the tele the other night and I actually turned to my wife and asked her if I'd heard it correctly. I thought they must have said 13 years not thirty as I too remember going to the london motor show in late eighties / early nineties.
