I am tempted to book a holiday to Tenerife through this website, but they want the full cost of the holiday when you book. I have never heard of this before, usually you pay a deposit and then the remainder later. Has anyone actually used destinationholidays.com before and were they ok?

Winnie-every travel website I know asks for full payment upright. Its only if you book through a travel agency that you may not have to pay the full sum at once. If you are booking the hotel on its own, then usually the hotel's website may ask for your credit card details to confirm reservation but without taking the money out until you chekc out of the hotel.
I often book with Expedia/lastminute.com/octopustravel/hotels.com and they also expect full payment. Read the terms and conditions before you commit to anything, to find out how much money you stand to lose in case of cancellation.
wasnt that the website that was on tv and was a con, people that booked with them never had any tickets or anything, and when they telephoned the number for help there was no such number, so i would be very careful.
i'd be a bit wary of that name also it rings a bell and i dont know why............ i've just booked on line through sunmaster.co.uk and it's really good value and after initial thought i may have been scammed have now got my tickets etc and only 2 days to go!!!! cant wait
