i have a bike that is currently on a chassis or vin number - i know that i have to provide details with the dvla, but i have heard that it is possible to reserve registrations - so that the whole process can be sped up. The reason being most insurers will only allow maximum of 14 days to get the reg from the dvla - -

Whats an insurance company got to do with that?

i am an insurance broker - we have clients who inport bikes into the country, and they are only supplied with a chassis or vin number. We have insurers that will cover the bike on a chassis number - but the official stance is that the client must obtain a registration from the dvla within 14 days otherwise his policy is cancelled. I had heard that it awas possible to reserve a reg with the dvla for this purpose
Now I know what your question is look here, and ask them..................................

thanks for your reply, sadly they were my first port of call but quite frankly their site is a joke. And their telephone service is utterly useless, it`s fine if you want to talk to a computer. I get clients phoning up everyday day about this issue and i`ve never been able to resolve it. If you find out anymore please let me know.

Many thanks

Neil
