Help my clutch on my fiat brava is playing up but i dont know what the problem is it is a 1.2 80 sx 2000 model x reg, last week the clutch pedal keeps making a noise and hard to press down then i couldnt get any gears they crunched as if i wasnt pressing the pedal down, then it has been ok again today i put the car in reverse and the pedal wouldnt move i had to turnt eh engine off to get the car out of reverse, it is ok again now anybody any idea what it can be. the car has only done 38.000 miles so i dont think the clutch can be worn out or is it.

Don't be suprised if it is the clutch - have you had the car from new ? if not you never know who's been riding the clutch ! It could be the thrust bearing on the clutch - but get it to a clutch specialist and see what they say it's very difficult unless you have the car infront of you to physically see.

Good luck
Probably not relevant here but for what its worth - I happened to be talikjng to an engineer today who drives a fleet Fiat van - he said you can't keep a clutch in the damn things for too long.
Is this a common thing with Fiats?
