I seem to have misplaced my MOT certificate and cannot for the life of me, find it. I have a sticker in the car showing it has a valid MOT and there's an issue code on it.
Thing is, I'm going to be renewing my insurance soon and might choose another insurer. I don't know whether I need certain information from the certificate to inform them of.
So, do I and, if so, how do I go about getting the certificate re-issued?
Yes, the testing station that issued your MoT certificate will sort you out with a copy.
You shouldn't need any details from the MoT certicate for new insurance though. Most info. you need will be on your old insurance policy and Vehicle Registration Document.
Yeah, it's one of the new computerised ones. Seeing as it doesn't seem I'll need the MOT certificate to get new car insurance, I don't think I'll spend the cash to get it re-issused - but it's nice to know now how I can get it if I later decide I do want it.
Many thanks for all the replies - I've owned a car for less than a year so far, so a lot of these procedures are quite new to me. You've all been very helpful!
