What's a reasonable price to pay to have a service and an MOT? I've been without a car for a few years and the price seems to have jumped up quite dramatically!!

About 25 - 40 quid for the MOT. Servicing depends upon the car - 80 - hundreds...
you wait till you buy some petrol it's no longer 6 bob a gallon!
the mot is now 50 and a service on a average 1.6 car is about 100 inclusive parts etc.

The maximum fee that can be charged for the MOT of a Class IV car (up to 8 passenger seats) is currently 50.35

The Testing Station can charge any amount up to that maximum and could conceivably charge nothing for the test.
