The discovery is a very capable vehicle, the TDi version is more economical to run mind. V8i is powerful but thirsty. Check engine for leaks, and try and get a full service history. There are a number of trim levels, check all electrics work, and if there is air con, let it run a while to confirm it really is cold, easy to be fooled in this weather.
