I stopped alongside a red traffic light but unknowingly was far enough forward to trigger the red lght camera, I did not cross the junction or obstruct the traffic crossing the juntion nor was it my intention to do so. This section of road is unrestricted dual carriageway, had I braked quite hard I could easily have stopped behind the white line but this would have been uncomfortable for my passengers. I was not aware that in stopping in a controlled manner clear of the junction that I could be committing an offence and was amazed a few days later to recieve a "ticket". My question is have I commited an offence and if so would it be worth my attending court to point out the circumstaces to the magistrates, or will they just conclude that as I crossed the white line I'm guilty, should I just grit my teeth and except 3 points on my previously clean licence for an offence that it was never my intention to commit. Thanks Bryan
