I'm currently getting a squeaking noise from a peugeot 206 when applying the breaks. Not a harsh noice and the breaks feel fine... I've been told they may just need cleaning... How would i go about this and what would i need ??

thanks for any help

Hi
some say wash out with hose & water - if you mean Disc's,
some say blow out with an airline(not jet)
DO'NT breathe/protect eyes if you choose the airline option
as the dust is an irritant
other than that remove the pads & clean/dust out the callipers etc, you may find that the discs have worn on the outer edges leaving a ridge, or rust sometimes builds up on the edges which may cause a squeak.
You can buy brake cleaner.

I found some once, and cleaned my rear drums and pads.

Don't know if it made any difference, but I felt a bit high on the fumes.
The usual cause of squealing brakes is the pads vibrating in the calipers.

The cure is to put a lttle high melting point copper grease on the back of the pads plus getting rid of a build up of brake dust. in the calipers or brake drums.
