Turbo "whistling"

Hi, i have a Transit 2.0TD 2001.The turbo makes a high pitched whistling noise,the faster you go the louder it gets. Any ideas how to fix this problem?. thanks.

When you say "the faster you go the louder it gets" do you mean road speed or engine speed?

If it was the turbo the noise would be there when you are accelerating aswell as cruising and in all gears. is the noise there all the time?

Hi, Thanks for your answer. Yes you are correct the noise is there all the time,but it seems to get louder as you increase speed,but when you lift off accelerator it stops.

hi its the bearings going in the turbo have you kept your engine oil clean? it will be ok for ages yet but look for a replacement one soon.

Hi,maybe it is a co-incedence,but the whistling started after i had a major service done.
