Ford Escort - engine problems
I have been told that the head gasket has gone on my Ford Escort 1998 Car. They also said that the pistons may have been damaged but would not know this until repairing the head gasket. How much would you expect to pay to fit a head gasket. Again how much if I needed new pistons?

A blown gasket usualy results in a loss of power (lack of compression} and overheating. Regarding price.......that is a grey area because garages can charge what they like (depending what they find). So. forggasket replacement maybe 50...........For piston replacement at least trebble that and they a do a good job. Good Luck.
sad old git, please dont comment on something you know nothing about. to replace a head gasket is a lot more then 50,the pistons could be damaged and the head could also need skimming,it depends on how long the car has been driven around with the gasket blown.
as for the price Chichlid,it could end up costing between 200/300.
