Hi there,

Im trying to insure a van i now have - and was surprised that they are more expensive to insure than my car!

Is this because the insurers assume i shall be using it for working - as i'm not, its to cart my mountian bike around - its just a small citreon berlingo van!

Anyoe got some good recommendations for cheao iunsurance?

many thanks,
Neil

It's generally becuase the van is your workhorse, and whilst it may get banged about a bit in the course of work, you guys will ensure the van and it's contents are secured more against theft as the loss of the van affects your livelyhood.

Try Gladiator for van insurance - although I believe they act as a broker.
Hi some insurers do hammer van owners, I have always insured mine with "Provident" I have full comp, with full no claims and mine is about 220 which I think is quite good, and I do live in a rural area so maybe thats why mine is not to high, good luck, Ray
My husband is a plasterer and always needs a van. After a lot of research we found NFU to be by far the best deal. Contrary to popular belief they don't only insure farmers.
I can second the recommendation for the NFU.
Most other insurance companies can't get their heads round why anyone would want a van or a pick-up for Social, Domestic and Pleasure use only. I used to cart motorcross bikes around at weekends and had the same trouble with insurance. NFU to the rescue!
