Theoretically,

can one be done for anything (ie: no tax, insurance etc etc)

if for example i bought an old classic car from a bloke 5 miles up the road ( the area i live in is quite flat so no hills), that had been off the road for the last 10 years

Me and five of my mates go and pick the car up and we push it all the way back to my house??

I would say yes, on all counts. (If you get caught).

but what if the car has no engine, ( i picked that up later in a trailer)
you should tow it, not push it, it is out of control if you push it, better still get a breakdown wagon to tow it to your house.
You would be done as you are on a public highway, therefore you require tax & insurance.

If the vehicle is on your ''private'' land, thats a different matter.

dot pretty much summed up what you would require to do to get the car from A to B
Road traffic offences refer in their definitions to offences that can be committed by "motor vehicles" or more properly now "mechanically propelled vehicles ".

If the car in question had no engine/gearbox fitted then arguably it would cease to be a mechanically propelled vehicle and therefore offences of No tax, insurance or mot would not be relevant.
What if several people literally "picked it up" and carried it down the road ?
You have hit the nail on the head NIGHTMARE, The only way to move it legally is literally to have all four wheels off the road.
In Hampshire if you get stopped in a car with no MOT or insurance. The car is taken away and put into a crusher.

any what what if the if the car has now wheels, and therefore has to be carried.
you better call superman then.
no insurance, as an offence if you were summonsed for this offence, you get get banned for 3 months , or at least 6 points, the road tax offence , you dont have to be driving it to be summonsed for no road tax, you are liable for road tax, from the time you register the vehicle in your name, on the assumption that you have or will register it in your name ........... i once read that someone got fined by the local council that they kept a vehicle without lamps and windscreens etc, the y had been frequently advised by the council, in the end the council got them a summons at magistrates court, but that was on a enviromental offence...meaning the vehicle was incomplete, and was sen to be an eye sore,,,,, but this offence is probably not that common .......
