Disabled Blue Badge

How daft is this? My husbands disabled parking badge runs out in next few days so sent renewal form and new pics to local council 3-4 weeks ago. No rec. new badge so therefore rang council to check if they had rec. the application. They assured me they had but do not usually send out the new ones til near the date of requirement. Fair enough but considering the postal strike was well notified in advance you would have thought they could have used their heads and sent off those that couild be affected by the strike. But no they tell me his is waiting to be posted but they will not be putting any in the post until after strike is over. What a clever bunch !!!!!

why dont you go and pick it up.

if they post if after the strike there is less likelyhood of royal mail losing it. (quite common when there is a build up of post)

Where I live you have to go in person AND sign for badge at renewal.No one else can collect it for you no matter how ill you are.

Difficult for me to go and pick up badge as the council offices are over 40 miles away and their opening hours are more or less the same hours I have to go to work myself.

When my husband's badge was due for renewal, he had to send in the application and the old badge so obviously couldn't use disabled parking spaces until we received new badge. In the past you could just go and wait while they prepared a badge for you but not anymore, it has to be done by post, so you're without one until a replacement arrives. How daft is that!

Well marje that is a worse situation than we have.At least we could use the old badge until expiry date. All councils seem to make up their own rules without much forethought.
