how much for a new clutch fitted in my 94 punto?

The car wont go into gear with engine on ,the garage has fitted a new clutch and charging me �235..This sounds excessive to me does anyone have similar experiences.The quote over the phone was between 160-180 but now shot up..

it could be two things

1- they didnt get the cost of the clutch first and was more expensive than they thought.

2- taken them longer than expected so adding an extra hour or so labour.

just ask them for a breakdown.

It's not unreasonable. They might of given a quick estimate without adding VAT.

u can fit a clutch to one of these piles of s h i t in 35 minutes!!! and u genuine clutch is around 60/70 quid from fiat.

had an x reg punto,

got clutch fixed for �160.

ur beta of going to a micanic who will come to you for a bit of private work in their own time, alot cheaper, n y give some garage ur money when some one who needs ur money would do it for alot cheaper.

like my clutch cost 100 so gave him 160. he was happy for a couple hours work.
