wiring fault 1994 corsa

i have a 1994 corsa that runs great when you take earthlead off, but connect the lead back to the battery and in seconds the car starts to run iregular and stops discharging the battery can anyone help please????????

have you checked that the actual earth to the car is properly earthed,as its a old banger,over the yrs this might have gone and got corroded,clean it up and see.

this may not be the earth lead that you are connecting/disconnecting.
if the earth lead is the only one to the negative pole on the battery how do you start it with it disconnected?
this maybe an alarm or other ancillery that should go on the positive terminal. you will need to get someone who knows what they are doing because if you wire up wrongly you can cause expensive damage depending on what car and what wire.
