OK all the blokes can laugh at me now. The door lock button on my key fob has been working only when it feels like it for a little while now, the open part is working fine. When I left my car this morning, the key/alarm fob wouldn't work so I locked car with the key. When I get back to it tonight must I unlock it with the key or can i use the control? Don't want to set the alarm off or anything!
it depends on the car and the locking system in my car if you lock it with the key you must unlock it with the ket and vice-versa, if i dont then the alarm goes off and the car wont start
Im having the same prob with my Focus. I have been told by my main dealer it is the chip in the key and will cost 100 to have the key replaced. I have lost key insurance on my credit card so guess what i am thinking of doing.
Vauxhalls have a deadlocking system, if when you locked it with the key you took the keyout in the same position as you put it in (vertically i think) the key fob should be fine, if you took the key out 90 degrees from where it was put in this should activate the deadlocks and the keyfob wont work to take them off. ( sounds complicated but have a play and you'll get it)
I had to use the spare key on my Ford Focus once, which doesn't have a central locking button. When I used the key to get in, I had to start the car and drive off within 10 seconds or so or the alarm went off (bearing in mind I go to work at 6am) I think it's pretty standard these days.
