The person agrees to buy your car without seeing it. They pay by cheque and instruct you to bank the cheque once the cheque has cleared into your account they will arrange to collect the car (or they may make shipping arrangements for the car).
Some time later, your bank will advise you that the cheque was drawn against a fraudulent account and take the money back. This scam is normally perpetrated from main land Europe.
When I first heard about this scam, I thought that the bank should stand the loss, having cleared the cheque but no chance.
