why does my AUTOMATIC K reg toyota previa keep stalling initially it will sound like flipper the dolphin when its first started BUT after long journeys especially it will take many attempts to start

any ideas

From your description the squealing noise on startup may be a slack fan belt
And the dificulty when hot starting may be the coolant temp sensor a good mechanic would corectly diagnose both very quickly
