parking ticket

hi i got a parking ticket this morning, i was parked up on the pavement in the road where i live. i have parked there for at least once or twice a week for the past 2 years, like many others there are no signs to say no parking should i appeal the ticket?

It is illegal to park on pavements, hence the ticket. Count yourself lucky you got away with it for 2 years. This can cause inconvenience to pedestrians, especially those in a wheelchair or blind.
Parking on a verge or footway is always illegal in urban areas.

Even simply having one wheel on the kerb renders you liable to a 'parking contravention notice' (with PCN code 62):
