My brother has his car broken into last night and they took the stereo but with no face (as he keeps this indoors)... Clearly with no criminal knowledge to myself I ask why would anyone steal a stereo with no face-unit ?
Because there are probably a few cars where they have been able to take the face unit and not the rest, i.e being disturbed or just not being able to take rest out. My car was bbroken into and they stole the tape player not CD, tape, cant have got much for that
still doesn't make sense, i mean, even if they had the face-unit for this model of stereo i'm sure these things are programmed to only be used with the actually cd player and face unit that they are shipped with ?or are they not... but how would they know what model stereo is in there too...
just not very bright thieves, i work in the recovery/body shop business, you would be amazed at how many late vehicles we get with theft damage, ie steering lock etc. it is common knowledge that it is virtually if not impossible to steal a late vehicle without the correct key yet they still keep trying !!
I must admit it does make me smile when i see so many krooklocks etc sold to owners of new cars.
some arent many a time I have forgotten face part and so stuck a piece of paper in hole in rest of it just to listen to CD, as long as they have same model then its fine
yeah the old clarion head units were good for that!! however i doubt you would get anybody stupid enough to buy it then fit it into a car with half a roll of sellotape over the little button to activate it. probably a stupid junkie who stole it
'cos they're little b@stards who know no better and just take what they can. They'll probably chuck it in a bush when it dawns on them, with no disregard for the trouble and inconvenience they've caused.
