could someone please tell me where in my vw golf mk 4 would i plug in a diagnostic reader?

if its like most cars its under the dash above the pedals.

On the Mk4 Golf the diagnostic point is in the centre console below the heater controls, you have to pull the cover plate out and you should be good to go. Leastways that's where it is on our GTI.
