No, but the car can be jointly owned by two people - and one or neither may be the registered keeper
The registered keeper of the car can be a business so it could be a trading partnership of the two people in theory I suppose.

It can't have two names on the document if that's what you meant.

thanks for that - the reason I am asking is that my daughter's husband has to give up his driving licence for a year due to a health problem. She has therefore to insure the car in her own name, and is wondering if she needs to transfer the registered keepers name from his to hers.
Hi janela,
Many cars are automatically insured for owner and spouse-thats you- so read the certificate of insurance carefully-you may already insured to drive this car, with the full cover your husband has'
good luck.
sorry- meant her husband!!! senile distemper again!!!
We have 2 cars in the family, 1 registered to me and the other to my husband yet the insurance is opposite, i.e. I insure my husband's car and vice versa. As long as she declares this to her insurance company and explains the reasons the main insurers I have dealt with dont bat an eyelid especially if you are married.

Dont change the registered keeper because this will show as another "owner" of the vehicle on the log book.
