Distributor cap ?
Points,
bl00dy ell snagged how old's your car, ?
It does sound like a starter motor problem.
The cost depends on the type of motor factors you have in your area,
Main agents will be expensive,
On E/bay abrand new one 40.00 Item number: 250312020314
A used one can be as little as a tenner.
So it's no big deal.
Its the starter motor/starter solenoid, some cars have both as one unit, some cars separate. not the battery

I think I replied to this in motoring a while ago
you can't keep buying bits if you're not sure! take it to a garage and let them work their magic ;o)

have your credit card handy!
The sollenoid on a focus is built in to the unit, It can be serviced, but not worth the hassle.
