fixed penalty notice

i recieved a fixed penalty notice on the 25/12/08.
The ticket officer issuing the ticket threw the ticket INTO the car on to the dashboard. my question is is the notice still legal as she entered the vehicle without my consent?

Yes it is. She will say she was concerned you were about to drive off to try and avoid her putting the ticket on the windscreen; or you refused to take it out of her hand.

You will end up looking worse if you follow that route.

I'd be more concerned that you received the notice on a date that hasn't happened yet.

Completely legal. There's an extra tarrif if you don't pay it on time, plus you could be liable to costs if you take it to court.

Throwing something into your car (which she was entitled to give you) does not amount to entering your vehicle - it might have done had it been attached to a brick and actually entered through the glass as opposed to an open space :-) I'm not trying to be flippant - save yourself lots of grief and money, and just pay up

Not sure the above is correct. My understanding is that a penalty charge notice (PCN) is only served by either being attached to the vehicle or by being handed to the person the Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) believes to be the owner. Neither of the cases applies here.

(The above assumes that we are talking about a parking ticket and not a 'true' fixed penalty notice which would be issued by a police constable)
