peugeot 206
Does anyone have a clue as to the problem with my car. Its a peugeot 206 (51 plate).
More and more often when i start it up, it makes a blurr noise like it cant be bothered to fire up, it lasts a split second then fires up immediately. But.... then i notice that the clock has reset itself at 00.00 likes theres been a complete disconnection with the battery. Apart from this it runs fine, Ive done 55k and ive had it from new, i dont think the battery has ever been changed, i suspect its electrical but possibly not the battery. Any idea.
Please dont tell me to see a mechanic.......im just looking for a vague idea...
cheers

You just answered your own question... lol
I changed my cars every 9 / 12 month, until this last one which I had new that I may have keep 2 years. I foolishly bought a 52 reg Peugeot 307 XSI and I'm sure I spent more time driving brand new 407 and 207 courtesy cars.. I found out that most people who buy a Peugeot or a Renault swear they'll never buy another... and most faults om them are electrical faults..

I knew the reputation of peugeots before i decided to take a chance and buy one new, being "just a woman" i thought looks over electrics. Ive had the car some years now and this is the first time ive had a problem, it still starts ok and its never packed up on me in all the years ive had it (touch wood) its just irritating having the clock going mental.
Mechanically ive spent very little on it over the years, just the odd service and tyres so i dont think i can really complain too much. Power to the Peugeot......
Of course i probably wouldnt buy another just in case my luck runs out.....

hi amanda,
If your ignition switch isn't springing back into place when you turn your key, you wont get any electrics until its in the proper position - you have to pull the key back manually. If this is the case then if you dont pull it back it will burn the starter motor out - it's juat happened to me. If this is not the case and the car is running fine and the starter motor is doing it's job - i still think you have an ignition switch problem. Alternatively if it's taking time to turn over it may be the heater plugs need replacing.hope this helps
