Transfer of ownership to dealer

if i have part exchanged my car with a car dealership, what is the name for the form i must fill in and send to DVLA?

The Dealers will have sorted that out Danroll, it is the form V5C (Your Log Book)

wouldnt always rely on the dealer, ive know a couple of people who part ex 'd vehicles and ended up with a fine because the tax was up it wasnt renewed or declared off road as the V5 was still in the original keepers name they got chased for it. ( the dealer did refund the fine )

Its up to the original owner to inform DVLA of change of keeper or sale to a trader, there is a specific part on the V5 for this.

There is a section of the V5C Vehicle Registration Document form ("log-book") which you, the current keeper, fill in and send to the DVLA to say you have passed it over to a motor trader - this is a different section to the one you send if you sell it. Motor traders do not have to register "ownership" of their stock vehicles with the DVLA. Sending this part of the form should absolve you of future responsibility for any fines etc for that vehicle. You should do this yourself though - I wouldn't trust the dealer to do it.
