Not a sermon Just advise If I can, A lot of people that are not car minded are of the opinion that their car has to be serviced by the dealers Far from it & at a 1/4 of the cost. Normal garage charges 60 70+ P/hr I do understand that they have to pay the heating, Employers etc but come on who is taking the P. A family run garage who can fit the requested parts by the manufacturer has the same skills as the big boys with the time to look after his/her customers, they may not have a very large garage, they may not have a waiting room or receptionist but the do have the ability not to RIP you off but do have the time to sort out your problems, If I can add before you start to panic and phone up the big boys, think about like us all the cost & that's what it is all about.

To stop dealers ripping off people by insisting the car is serviced by them or your warranty is cancelled has been stopped by the government.

You can get the service at any vat registered garage, as long as genuine dealer service parts are used and the service book is stamped, the dealers have to honour your warranty if this done.

The small print does not mean anything.
too many small/family run garages have ripped me off.

as have the main dealers.

I don't trust anyone to do a good job and not rip me off.
Owned cars for over 40y - and learned not to have regular service when new parts are replaced with old! Rarely wash my car (dirt protects paint & theft).

It it works, dont fix it!
The parts do not have to be main dealer parts. They can be of equal of better quality. As said, a service book stamped by a main dealer makes the car worth more but that advantage might be debatable.
