hi i am picking up a car i have just purchased from the garage tomorrow but as i obviously cant drive two cars at the same time will be taking my son along to drive the new one back how do i go on about insuring it for him to drive it home, it will only need him to be insured for the journey home which is about 14 miles tia

Well if it was me, I'd ring the garage first and ask for the vehicle's registration number, engine size, make/model etc (check it's taxed as well). Then I'd ring my insurance company from home and get it covered. You MUST tell them that your son will be driving either it or your old one home. You don't want him getting caught for no insurance.
Many companies will do this easily, and will also insure both cars while you dispose of the old one at little or no extra cost.
depending on the cost...i would perhaps consider just getting a taxi to the garage...

i know it is about �35 to add someone for 1 month...an i was told that that was the minimum amount of time you could do it for...other places may have other amounts though

The dealer delivered mine too they were quite willing as I said I would take the driver back to the garage.
