revs hunting

have a 00 honda hrv,when engine warms up its gets errratic and revs between 500rpm and 1500 rpm,do anyone have the solution for this problem.many thanks

I had a similar problem with a honda civic. I ignored it and the camshaft broke which cost be a load of cash to fix.

The nechanic said the reving was due to the timing belt, it needed replacing.

On average timing belts need changing every 75,000 miles or so. Same for replacing the camshaft.
