Am I right in thinking that if you have an accident on a country lane (location of accident was just wide enough for one vehicle) it is classed by law as a knock for knoc?

no, it would really depend on the circumstances. For example, what if someone were going too fast and shunted you from behind? would you expect to pay 1/2 for it? what if someones brakes failed at the top of an incline and ploughed into you coming up the slope, would you expect to pay 1/2 for that?

No, the same rules apply on country lanes as on any other road.
