If I have got D1E on my licence does that mean I can drive 7.5 tonne horsebox?

I always thought I could, I have been on the rubbish DVLA website and its all in Kilogrammes!!!

7.5 metric tonnes = 7500 kg
the tonnage you can drive would depend on when you passed your test .

D1e relates to larger passenger vehicles .

to drive your horse box upto 7.5 tonnes you require the
C1 Medium sized vehicle weighing between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg

assuming you mean a horse box that's not a trailer, ie a truck, essentially up to 7.5 tonnes then you need a C1, D1E relates to passenger vehicles + a trailer

Yep have C1, C1E, D1, D1E - I used to drive a Bedford TK (with no power steering) Cheers thank you very much!!!

LOL @ Panic Button, judging the way some of the "young whippersnappers " drive its a good job to! Especially in not being even able to tow a trailer. One thing that makes me laugh, is where I work we have a female LGV (2) driver who to be honest she is VERY good, BUT she cannot even put a small box trailer behind her car yet she can drive a 26 tonne truck!
