really depends wether its genuine kit or after market,genuine fit so much better and even they can be a pain sometimes. Most are bonded on and if not done properly it can become an issue at a later date.Then there is trying to match paint, depending on colour can be even a bigger pain

Always use manufacturers own dress-up kits if poss, or panels from higher range models that are correct colour. (Like you can fit RS parts to many lesser model specs in Ford model range) This is like an Escort RS body kit on your Ghia, etc. Same goes for Corsa, Vectra, etc. to a degree.
