My car (Rover Knightsbridge, P reg) is very cheap to tax and relatively cheap on insurance, bought it a few years a go and it had only two previous owners so had pretty low mileage but for nearly the past two years have been using it in term time to travel to uni so have been travelling, on average, 50 miles 3/4 times a week plus using it for short journeys and has done quite well, not had to make any major repairs yet!

ty just had a look on ebay to see what it looks like :) not the sort of car my teenage son would love but i like and it looks like the ideal first car not too big
I'm not particularly keen on it but when it's our first car, especially for lads, you can't afford to be choosy!

lol would make me a very young mum !!
yeah lol! I've been looking at cars because think I'm going to get a new (to me) one next year instead of putting mine through the MOT again but some of them are so expensive for older cars!
Question Author
its not like i realy need one but it would be nice to have a bit more freedom as public transport takes half your day up :) ka's seem nice enough just for a little run around
Would love a Ka, apparently they are quite good even if the mileage is quite high. Would also like a Corsa. What are you learning in?
Rovers are not reliable!

look at small, Japanese and preferably later than 2001 as this hugely effects the amount of road tax you pay.

something like a Nissan micra. should be available in your budget.
Mine has been Chuck, maybe I'm just lucky though :o)
Question Author
iam not sure my fisrt half of lessons was in a corsa but he changed his car and never realy took much notice lol too worried about the lesson prob's
Lol, you sound like me, when people asked me before he got a corsa I usually answered, "Errrm, a blue one?"
Question Author
funny you say that it is blue lol 5 door but for the life of me dont know what it is yet i know it always has 1 or 2 car seats in the back!!!!
Ford Fiesta.
Hi
As a first car for a young lady, I would think you are really interested in low insurance and running/servicing costs. If this is the case, pick a Fiesta.
If you can afford a bit more, facelift Polo 2001-on a good bet. (Not 1.0L tho)
peugeot, micra, yaris, matiz all nice small runners and good on tax and fuel.
