Lost Drivers
9 Answers
formatted my PC and re-installed XP Professional from a valid disc I purchased about 5 years ago but when I attempted to get on-line via an Ethernet connection from my Sky router I found I had no driver fo my :-
1. Ethernet Contoller
2. Multimedia Audio Controller
3. SM BUS Controller
All indicate Code 28
Obviously I can't log-on to download anything therefore can you help me by forwarding the required drivers to [email protected] so that they can be transferred to a pen-drive and then to my "sick" PC.
Many thanks
Terry

If it's a name brand computer then knowing the model number of it will enable the correct drivers to be found on the manufacturers website.
Secondly. if you have a PC with access to email so you can put the drivers on a USB pen drive then why can't you download the drivers on that computer from the manufacturers website?

Hi, Thanks for reply. As you will have guessed, I am not too bright with the technicalities of computers but I have managed to find the following.
It's a HP Compaq Presario S0000 Serial No:- CZB350000L
AMD Athlon (tm) XP 2400+ 2GHz 960Mb Ram
Router is SkyBroadband Netgear (providing Ethernet connections)
Yes I have colleague who could transfer required drivers to pen-drive if
you could advise us where to obtain them.
Many thanks

They can be got from the HP website, but Presario S0000 is not a valid model number.
If you go here and put the correct model number in you will be able to download all the drivers

(the drivers for the SM bus may not be listed, if you post the correct model number I'll see if I can point you towards that one)

Chipset drivers (should include SMbus)
I'd also suggest installing the correct video drivers as the default windows ones will give you crap performance (try scrolling a web page and you'll see what I mean)
