starting problem

i have a renault megane 1.4 dynamique, it starts up every time, but after its been running for a while and i stop it, when i go back to start it, it starts but cuts out, this happens several times, i then have to rev it to keep it running, i would be grateful for any suggestions as to what the problem might be.
