Hi

today i was reversing out of a car park space, i looked and there was nothing, i continued to reverese and was a big bang, looked to my left to see a car. I assumed he must have tried to squeeze by as i reversed as he wasnt there when i started. anyway, i pulled back into the space, gutted and got out to speak to the driver of the other car. He wasnt even going to get out. I ask him to get out which he did,the driver wing was dented, corner bumper had come away slightly and front headlight cracked. I said sorry my fault i didnt see you. He said, its ok dont worry, got in his car and drove off. I revered out continued on my way and was beside him as i turned right and he left.

My question is should i report the incident to the police, i never took his reg nor him mine, but he could have took mine. There is no damage at all to my car,not even a scratch.

thanks in advance

His car may have been damaged before. Either that or he didn't have insurance.
You ought to report any accident to your insurance company, you are supposed to even if any claim isn't go to result. Look at your policy documents to see what they expect of you.
Was your car damaged?
He may not have been insured.... in which case it will be highly unlikely he wishes to get involved with insurance companies.
To cover yourself (providing you have insurance) report it to the police.
Sounds like you have good result if your vehicle is not badly damaged.
No claims still intact and no damage to your car and your fault...what a result
Go and buy a lottery ticket while your luck is in..!
Perhaps he had been drinking.

no damage whats ever to my car. To be honest not even sure the damage we saw was as a result of it. He was so calm and as i said didnt even get out till i asked him to.
Perhaps it wasn't his car...
police wont be interested even less than normal with the lack of vehicle details etc.
As regards letting your insurance company know, my advice is dont! i know your policy etc. tells you to but until the 3rd party contacts you i would leave well alone.
Once you have logged a possible claim with your own insurance company it can become an outstanding claim with no definite outcome of whos at fault so it can affect your no claims bonus or future renewal premiums until such time as its resolved which with little or no details could be a long time....
well, was going to report it to the police, but have just found out now its an offence not to have repoted it in the first 24hrs, so i think i will just keep quiet, carry on and count my blessings, and hope he isnt a con man ready to milk me for all i m worth
Just tell ins co incase he crops up again but he won't - either not insured, no licence, drunk, stolen or already damaged in my opinion
