Is 'Top gear' in need of attention.?

A few weeks ago I posted my view on BBC's programme 'Top Gear' and had some interesting responses.

This evening I switched off the TV in disgust after only about ten minutes into the programme.
How many of us are interested in cars that can do over 240 miles per hr when we are restricted to a speed of 70 in the UK.? Furthermore, how many of us can afford a Bugatti.??
No doubt Jeremy Clarkson is being paid a ridiculous fee for what has become a ridiculous programme.

I would like a little more emphasis on affordable cars with supercars taking a lower profile. Quite right Prudie....' It's the same old same old everytime.'
Pity perhaps that I switched-off before the tribute to Ayrton Senna.
Fair point bibblebub. I'm glad I am retired and can now avoid rush hours.

What happened bibblebub.?......Please ignore my question if necessary...We can still correspond as friends on other matters.
Quite right trt ....Hammond is a pain in the posterior.....A friend of mine has now gone-off the supermarket Morrisons because of the high costs involved with his advertising the store.....hundreds of thousands have been reported.

Hi Prudie......The amount you have given is far below the sum which I have heard...perhaps you mis-read it ....because my info is £750k (i.e. £250k per day.)
When you think of it,pushing a trolley up a hill is more demanding than driving a car on the flat and does not pollute the atmosphere. :-) However, he is starting to accelerate my overdrive.!!

I think top gear is funny. It is ridiculous but the old style Top Gear before Clarkson came back was struggling for viewers because it focused on repmobiles and low insurance group affordability.....boring.I personally want to see a Ferrari on fire racing a mad bull in Brent Cross shopping centre.....there is only one show that will do this:))
A programme about affordable cars would be as dull as dishwater hence the irony of sending their guests out in a "reasonably priced car". This is an entertainment show which is why it is shown at primetime on a Sunday night in a spot where a programme about the best fuel economy of vectras and mondeos would never air.
Sure Clarkson and his mates are overpaid but their wages are driven by the viewing figures for a primetime show which is probably one of the most watched on the BBC and Iplayer.
It is past it's peak but if you are a regular viewer then there is always something in each show to make it worth watching. It will come to end just as all programmes have a time and shelf life but whilst people are still watching then it will continue to be shown and buldging wage packets issued.

Funny though right?......We are at a stage in Britain where the X Factor is viewed as a 'serious intellectual search for talented entertainers in the UK'.....whereas I see it as a holiday camp talent show with better lighting......Top Gear on the other hand is presented by three blokes who you could meet at work every day and week in week out make the subject of cars, which is quite dull, into an hour of entertainment.....you have a computer,Google reasonably priced bland cars and get reading....
It's interesting that when they film their exploits, they don't want the public watching. The time they tried to sail cars and vans over to France from Dover, there was no pre-publicity and we didn't know they were there - it was all very quiet. Quiet to the extent, as I recall, that they didn't inform the Coastguard of what they were planning, and got a firm ticking-off from the Maritime & Coastguard Agency and told what to do in future.
