noone at red lights

As drivers, how annoying is it, when pedestrians press the button at traffic lights but then cross straight away, leaving no-one there, when the lights are green for predestrian and red for drivers?

It annoys me when i'm on my bike, possibly more than motorists, seeing as I have to stop then use a load of energy, to get my speed back up, but what about you guys.

annoying when someone has done it deliberately, but often its a case of the traffic clearing and people managing to cross safely before the lights have changed. Do you want them to stand there and wait?

It can be occasionally irritating yes but nowhere near as irritating as cyclists!

Yes - very annoying, I'm a driver and a cyclist so I know what it's like from both points of view.
As a pedestrian I NEVER press those buttons unless there is a steady unbroken line of traffic, infact I rarely press them at all - I'd rather play 'frogger' :-)

if your not on a car or on a bike. you shouldnt be out of the house, you may impede the traveller by 10seconds. molly can you not get a wee moped.?

Thats what they do red. Depending on where it is, I sometimes sneak aross when it's on red, if noone's coming, or they're on the other side of the road. Plus when I go to school, If I followed the cars, it'd be dangerous, and if I went across how the pedestrians do, it would mean I have to cross twice (to get to the land diagonally from where I start) so When it goes red for the cars, I go straight across.)

I get annoyed that cyclists like to cherry pick the road rules to suit themselves.

what really annoys me is people who stand at the kerb side wanting you to stop and let them cross the road when they only have to walk 5-10 yards to a crossing. It happens all the time were I live because the crossing point is just that bit out off the way of the shops

If i'm cycling on the road, depending on where it is, and where the pedestrians are, I might stop. But if it's the ones by the shops, I come at it from the path like a pedestrian, so go diagonally across the 4-way junction crosssing thingy.

Are red lights intended for cyclists? Most people on bikes seem to ignore them.

molly, cyclists are not supposed to ride on the pavement, I wish that law would be implemented..... I don't know why cyclists think the Highway Code doesn't apply to them, even the lycra guys ignore the red lights round here.

Boxtops, it's only for about 20 metres, then there's an allocated cycle path bit. I come out of a cul-de-sac where there is a footpath that leads the the main road, where the traffic lights are. It's far safer to do that than go straight across the path and onto the road, which I'd have to cross anyway, to be going in the right direction, I'd then have to somehow cross the 4-way junction with the cars which is far more dangerous than cutting straight across, when the lights are green for pedestrians.
