Fiat Punto: Stalling problems

My 1997 Fiat Punto 60 SX has developed a problem over the past couple of weeks. I seem to be able to get the engine started without difficulty. The problem I have got is that when I put my foot on the accelerator, the revs rise as normal but when I lift my foot off the accelerator the revs dip to well below the normal idling engine speed. This leads to stalling, particularly when cold. Once the engine has warmed the problem seems to disappear. I have a feeling it could be something to do with the automatic choke. Does anyone have any other ideas? Many thanks, Jamo

 A 1997 Punto is fitted with single point fuel injection therefore there is no automatic choke.The Fuel injection system is controlled by a computer which gets signals from sensors ie. engine temperature sensor, t.d.c sensor, air pressure sensor.Threfore any one of these sensors could be faulty.There is also twin coils fitted to control the ignition system and 1 of these could be faulty. the only way of finding the fault is to bring it to bring the car to your local FIAT dealer who will have the tester to diagnose the problem.
