I don’t know if you are interested in a considered answer now, Bmw-Rider, after more than twelve hours of “Chatter”, but if you are here goes:

Magistrates’ sentencing guidelines (for England and Wales – I think they are the same in Scotland) only cover speeds up to 100mph in a 60mph zone. For that speed the recommended penalty is a fine of half a...

ban and fine. You may be able to plead to the court that loss of licence would affect your job etc
"...just wondering what might happen ?"

Maybe you should have been thinking that BEFORE you got to 61mph?
can't see the point of this post - do the time!
I believe that if you are caught doing over 90mph then it's an automatic ban, and a fine too!...........No need though, is there?..........just need to observe the speed limit!............

I hope none of you are passing on your opinions rather than helping this chappy out. I got my wrists slapped for that earlier by the Ed no less :-)

Cripes, guys ...

The score tonight ...

Didn't occur to the OP to ask the officer what might happen? Posting here might be seen as 'bragging rights'?
I think a ban is automatic if you were doing over 100mph. That's for motorways - it'll be a certainty for an A road! Quite frankly BMW-rider, I think you'll have to be honest and agree that you'll deserve it.

Give the guy a break !
My post was advice not judgement. A family member has been done twice for such speeds but escaped a ban because he was in the forces and his CO put a case forward. Don't suppose you're in the same situation.
